  Coaching with Gen Middleton We're joined by former Australian Dropbears Head Coach Gen Middleton to discuss all the ins and outs of coaching quidditch at the highest level. Having started her coaching career in Gymnastics, Gen tells us about the skills she learnt which she brought to her role as a quidditch coach and all the hard work that went into putting together the 2016 Dropbears team that won the World Cup.  Playing to win, Burrito Bowls and A Wild Ride- Luke Derrick For the third episode of series 3, we return to Australia to talk to star beater and Quidditch Australia President Luke Derrick. Luke tells us all about how he got thrown into the deep end when he started playing quidditch with his first tournament being QUAFL (the Australian national championship) with the University of Sydney Unspeakables and the journey he went on from that point. We talk about all kinds of topics from Luke's appreciation for American quidditch and playing over in the States, how he took on an ill-advised crash diet before playing on the 2016 World Cup winning Dropbears team and spent the whole tournament eating nothing but Chipotle, reflecting on the fortunes of his club team (the Sydney City Serpents) and his State Shield team (New South Wales Blue Tongued Wizards), all the way to becoming an NGB president and what challenges he has faced in the role. Setting goals, Living your wizarding dreams and Going Down Under- Andrew Hull In this episode, we talk with long time Team UK and Velociraptors QC keeper Andrew Hull. Andrew tells us about how he got into quidditch through his love of Harry Potter, his early days at Bangor and with Team UK, joining Oxford from Bangor and the big transformation he made as a player during that season, the first year of playing with Raptors, his time playing down in Australia, the 2018 World Cup, a bizarre celebrity experience at a Harry Potter festival in Denmark and his desire to continue playing quidditch at the highest level. I anticipated that seekers would be on the agenda for the other GMs at this point too so I knew I needed to get in there now before some of the better options disappeared. Hi there, since their World Cup victory in 2016, I've quite enjoyed occasionally following the Australian quidditch scene. As someone who watches from afar many thousands of miles away, there seems to be obvious sporting talent and depth across all genders, a healthy yet determined competitive attitude towards the sport and what excites me most- unpredictability. Unlike quidditch played in the UK or in other European nations, there appears to be constant competition between a large amount of teams in Australia with multiple in-range games. Dropbears (Australian national team) players are spread across numerous teams rather than clustered in one or two 'super teams' which makes their national tournament (QUAFL) genuinely entertaining year after year. Now that film from the QUAFL 2018 Grand Final has become available (Thank you very much Ajantha Abey and Quidditch Australia!), I decided it was time to take a trip down under and have a stab at analysing some Aussie footage. ...
