The (Unofficial) British Quidditch Championship Belt

Image
Hi all, bringing you a bit of a different kind of article today. The idea for this one comes from an article that featured in the Knowledge section of Guardian Sport in  the Guardian  a few months ago. The concept of the article looks at a hypothetical scenario in football where, instead of the familiar league structure, the Premier League organisers instead decided that the title of national champions would be passed on like a Championship Belt is in Boxing. Whoever beats the current 'belt' holders in a single match becomes the champion until they lose and the team that beats them is now the new champion (e.g. Manchester United are the current champions but if they lose to Chelsea then Chelsea become the new champions). Considering the history of the Premier League and the nature of football in which upsets happen frequently, the article created some interesting hypothetical scenarios so naturally it seemed like a good idea to apply this concept to quidditch. While the history

My T8M's Fantasy Fantasy All-Timer Tournament team- Part 2

Image
Hello and welcome to Part 2 of the tournament draft review from my 8th Man All-Time fantasy fantasy team.  In part 1, we went through picks 1-7 and in this part, we'll have a look at picks 8-14 and why and how I decided to pick them in this All-time hypothetical fantasy tournament.  Let's get to it! Pick #8- Joshua Andrews Photo Credit- Isabella Gong Photography Position(s)- Seeker/Keeper Notable teams played for- UTSA Quidditch, Texas Cavalry, Austin Outlaws (MLQ Team), USA National Quidditch Team (USNQT) Country- USA With half a roster drafted, I turned my attention towards a seeker. I anticipated that seekers would be on the agenda for the other GMs at this point too so I knew I needed to get in there now before some of the better options disappeared. As was discussed in the draft coverage, seeker wasn't a straightforward selection to make as there have been numerous talented seekers throughout history but very few who have consistently caught snitches to win games acros

Hello world, It's with great pleasure that we can announce that Total Quidditch. is starting a brand new and exciting project. TQ has mostly existed as a written based platform but now we're taking to the airwaves.  Introducing... the Total Quidditch. Podcast!  Photo Credit- Claire Purslow Quidditch Photography The goal With this new podcast, we're aiming to provide you with a different type of quidditch content. At TQ, we love to analyse the sport and break it down in a way that everyone can understand, enjoy and improve from and this vision has had a major influence on what we've produced so far. However, while analysis is both interesting and valuable, it's also important to consider the people who play quidditch and make it the sport that it is. In the episodes to come, we are going to be talking with various players and people from across the quidditch community. Talking with individuals from a variety countries and backgrounds and providing them with a platfor

My T8M's Fantasy Fantasy All-Timer Tournament team- Part 1

Hi everyone, Happy New Year and welcome to the first article of 2021!  I hope everyone is well during these difficult times. I intended for this to be released several months ago however, life got in the way so here we are. I wanted to write a piece to talk about  The Eighth Man 's Fantasy Fantasy All-Timer Tournament & Draft. A hypothetical fantasy quidditch tournament that took place  from April till July last year in which I was  participating as a General Manager (GM) . As a GM, my aim was to put together a roster of some of the best quidditch players of all time, battling it out against 7 other GMs in order to see who can create the best team. In this scenario, each GM drafts a roster of 14 players to play a tournament under MLQ (Major League Quidditch) and USQ (US Quidditch) rules, including the 4 max gender rule. You can draft any player who has ever played competitive quidditch in any country and select them in their prime (allowing retired and injured players to be
